So I figured I'll check Ayn Rand out so I know what all the fuss is about. Which one of these books would you recommend - Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead?

I started off with The Fountainhead and loved it. Then I moved on to Anthem, which I loved. Now I am working towards Atlas Shrugged.

Fountainhead was pretty meh. Characters were two-dimensional, the ending was laughable, and she is really long-winded. I read about fifty pages of Atlas Shrugged and set it down. It was goddamn awful.

You'll probably get bored of them before you can finish them. She writes 1000 pages on something that could have been said in 300 or less. Her themes are radical, and ridiculous, but at least spark your brain. Her characters have good dialogue.

I was a fan of the fountainhead because I'm an architecture major - comically the roles are more reversed now as far as modernism and art deco.

She's not great, but they are decent books. I was really bored and busted atlas shrugged out in 3 days. The last quarter of the book is the best I wish it didn't take 600 other pages to get there.
