First gen Paperwhite, the stock photo of course. I really like it. I just wanted something lightweight, e-ink, and for reading only. 2GB memory is small, but that holds 200+ books and the battery lasts for about two weeks.

I have about 1200 books on my 2gb, I don't know what size are your books, but most are 1mb tops. With an actual capacity of 1.3gb, since 0.7 is system reserved, you should be able to hold at the very least 1200 books m8.

I'm not advertising anything. I've tried everything else, and I prefer the retina ipad by far. t's nice to be able to look up unfamiliar words with the built in dictionary, sync my bookmarks and the place I left a book at between my ipad and iPhone in case I want to read and don't have my ipad with me.

Not to mention being able to store an entire library in google drive, then drop epubs right into iBooks whenever I want to read one. Or just read pdf's from websites or anywhere else. I just downloaded 3 epubs from a free online library 5 minutes ago.

On top of that, I can read all of my pirated digital textbooks for university in full colour with interactive links to extra resources.
I used to think iPads were stupid until i borrowed a friends for a day. Bought one the same week and never looked back.

Another possibility is running a book server through calibre on your desktop/laptop, then just access every book through that anywhere, though I don't like how your computer has to stay on for that. Google drive is the way to go for sure.

Nook Simple Touch here as well. Got one when they very first came out almost three years ago, and I haven't had any trouble with it. Native support of the open epub format, unlike Kindle. I only wish I could throw txt, rtf, and html files on it directly, but conversion is easy so it's a non-issue.

Kindle still works for that, but it's more of a hassle.

Just jailbreak it and install KOREADER, an infinitely superior pdf viewer and you're set. Shouldn't take more than an hour.

Same thing happened to me. I used to post I could never read off of ebooks, that for me the smell of paper was part of it, etc.

A friend got one and lent it to me for a couple of days, ordered one straight after that.

I feel kind of bad I haven't read a physical book for over a year now, but considering all I've read on the kindle, even books I could never get before, it's worth it.

Have in mind that you should uncompress the pdfs in order for them to go fast. If you see your kindle taking its time to turn a page, etc., it means it's too compressed for the ram to handle it properly, just uncompress it and it'll go fast as fuck.

Got that from plenty of experimenting, thought I could spare you that part.

I got my first 4th gen Kindle last year as a birthday gift. I loved it from the get go: I started reading a shit ton more than I used to. But because I'm a disorganized fucker I stepped once on it and broke its screen. I checked different brands and different products but I ended up buying a new 4th gen Kindle. Bear in mind I live in a third world shithole and the only way to buy an e-book reader is either by importing it yourself or buying it imported, but it was the cheapest reader I found.

Still, I don't have any complains about it. If you get a well-formatted ebook (which is not really that hard to do nowadays), it's absolutely great. Yes, it may not have the contrast the Paperwhite does but I mainly read in daylight so that's not really a problem for me. The pdf reader is pretty shitty but then again, I stick to .epub
