Christ, why do you have to be like that? CoD sucks this, CoD sucks that, ad infinitum. I HAVE learnt a lot about military tactics from CoD: flanking, suppressive fire, etc. More than you pseudo-intellectuals would learn from a fucking book. Have you ever stopped to think that written word might not be the only respectable medium? Oh, I get it: you just can't afford a decent gaming system. Fuck off.

out of all the potentially valid military themed titles you could pick to demonstrate the virtue of interactive mediums wrt edification, you had to fixate on cod.

>flanking, suppressive fire

But those are just the most basic of all military tactics that anyone could imagine by having seen one war scene in any movie and then sat one hour to think about what a firefight is made of.

Any suggestions on United Nations or NATO military strategy? I have a copy of Blue Helmets that I need to get around to reading.

I'm also looking for books on modern military strategy with emphasis on the nuclear option and the avoidance of such. Someone suggested Command and Control which looks pretty good.

Outdated, of course, but for historical perspective, you can't beat Clauswitz and Sun Tzu.

Its good to know that if war is ever waged we can have trust in all the skills you learned from shooty games. protip: join the actual army if you ever want to learn 'military tactics'.
