beautiful, is there a fantasy equivalent of this?

>> No.549077

Gene Wolfe, Robert Charles Wilson, Arthur C Clarke, PKD, Dan Simmons, Orson Scott Card, Frank Herbert

Isaac Asimov and Larry Niven arent the best writers but their stories are goddamn amazing.

I've read two books by Roger Zelazny. Lord of Light was absolutely amazing, writing was beautiful. Dream Master was utter shit.

I dont like Heinlein.

Chill dude, if he had said fantasy he would have been discussed. He did not. I personally have not read any sci fi by Pratchet, although I think he wrote like...three? sci fi novels.

He did ask for fantasy, everyone just ignored him and talked about sci fi.
speaking of which

OP here I did say fantasy, and I am a huge fan of Pratchett, though Pratchett is a witty writer, however since the majority of his work is satire it lacks a lot of original ideas.

Its a honorable mention but not exactly in the same league as Douglas Adams

Well I realize he did in fact say fantasy. My bad. And since fantasy is also under discussion let me contribute:
China Mieville, CS Lewis, Micheal Moorcock, and Pratchet.
Also I can't vouch for anything else they've written (good god is it allot) but Elvenbane by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey was reaally good.
Also Piers Anthony is good but you can get tired of him quickly. I would really just recommend the first two Xanth novels and On A Pale Horse.

This is also really damn good. Wow.
Needs to be cleaned up a little bit though.

I think His Dark Materials could be under, one row down and left, "Coming of Age," as opposed to "Entry Level", even if I have to admit it was the first series I ever read - making it probably entry level.

Joe Haldeman is sorely under-appreciated around here. Read Forever War and Forever Peace. Both won hugos, nebulas and shit.
