I've only read Discipline and Punish but I had no problems with it. Most suggest it as a first read by Foucault. Others suggest Madness and Civilization. But the lectures might be good since in a public forum like that, Foucault would have to avoid the terrible writing style he's sometimes charged with (I personally didn't see it in D&P). Give the lectures a whirl OP, apparently there are a bunch on the various topics he's written about.

I've read the Order of Things, Madness and Civilization, Discipline and Punish, and the Foucault Reader. I'm torn between Madness and Civilization and Discipline and Punish.

Foucault is really rich in content, but I think if I had to start over again I'd start with either of those two.

If you seriously want to get into Foucault you should work your way up. Or you could pick out which Foucault you want to study (archeological or genealogical).
Foucault's chronology is understandable and logical, except for the fact that he seems not to be that interested in language anymore (in his genealogical period).

And I would definitely encourage you to study him. My answer wasn't meant as a "Fuck you, just read all of it." If you want to study him seriously, that's what I would recommend. He's very, very interesting, relevant, a genius etc.
