I haven't read much sci-fi at all and I'm wondering if there are any legit sci-fi dudes out there who can give quality recs.

Alasdair Reynolds' Revelation Space books. Everyone I've recommended them to really likes them.

Also Iain M. Banks Culture books are mostly quality.

If you want to be all literary or whatever then Burroughs' sci-fi is pretty good, and also Ratner's Star by Don DeLillo, which is probably his worst nove.

Anything PKD. Also Ender's Game (I know it's kind of a 'controversial' pick, but it's all in all well written and a really good time).
Plus any Asimov short story. You really can't go wrong this way.

OP here. Thanks. I've read DADoES and I liked it quite a bit. Easy to read with lots going on (quality writing).

I've read the The Wasp Factory by Banks and thought it was fucking awesome though that was ages ago. I stole my Dad's copy of Raw Spirit but never ended up reading it. It's just sitting on the shelf still.

Ashamed to say I haven't read anything at all by Don DeLillo. I should read Underworld over Ratner's Star then.

Will look into the Spraw 3logy. Good?
