What are you reading right now?

Are you enjoying it?

I'm reading Lolita at the moment. Vladimir Nobokov has me hooked with his writing style.

Try reading The End of Alice when you're done. Lolita ain't got shit on it.

reading dance dance dance for the second time. now I only have about 3 or 4 books left to have read all of h. murakami's stuff in English twice.

sure his books don't turn your worldview upside down. but they're fun. I haven't read most in nearly ten years so they feel kind of new to me again.

Omensetter's Luck. Apart from that first chapter of the Jethro Furber section, which was as laborious as anything I've read in Faulkner or Joyce, it's been a delightful read. Gass's prose is gorgeous, Furber is a fascinating character, and the second half of the narrative is quite pacey and engaging.

If you're just reading to challenge what you think, you're a douche. It's a good reason, but not even close to the most important.

I barely come here because it's mostly faggots discussing shit tier 18th-19th century literature that's "so deep."
It's not. You're all gay.

Only on Chapter 17 and I've felt like I've roamed Humbert Humbert's mind. Very descriptive, intriguing narrative.

Reading Mason & Dixon, it's a little dense at times but interesting, Franklin's had some good lines so far but being a native from Newcastle, the Geordie dialogue is a little exaggerated which is really my only problem with it.

I can't be the only one who's imagined Sean Bean as Dixon can I?

Some short stories and nonfiction from the DFW reader. Pretty good. I've only read Infinite Jest by him, but I'm enjoying his other stuff as well.

Recently finished Chronic City and Annihilation, both of which I enjoyed and would recommend (to very different people).

Will probably start The Art of Fielding after this.

Talking about Nabokov. I have received Pale Fire from my grandma. It is some really old edition but it doesn't really matter. Is there any essential reading before it? Perhaps some sort of theory of literature or some sort of book on criticism and academics? (for all i know many people consider it satire on some of these topics)
