What's the difference between generations X, y, and Z.

As I understand it:

Generation X: Born 1965 - 1979. Cynical, politically apathetic.

Generation Y: Born 1980-1993. Civic minded, strongly embrace new sincerity.

Generation Z: Born 1994 - 2009.

If your definition is correct, Gen-Z will most certainly destroy humanity.

>> No.625109

Does Generation y have any definitive literature yet?

I know generation X has, well, "Generation X".

>> No.625131

Generation Z is doomed to make non-topical threads on internet image boards like 4chan, the unwiped sweaty taint of the internet.

I'm generation Y?

This.
How about: Generation Z will be too distracted with the wonders of high, and higher and higher technology to care about rl? Sounds good.

>> No.625173

Generation Z are dumb shits, that's the difference.

Looks like Generation Y had all the good video games, if they were born in the 8 and 16 bit era.

>> No.625181

>>625174
And those games were programmed and designed by baby boomers.

>> No.625188

I think each generation gets more and more apathetic and materialistic, and their life becomes increasingly easy mode while child psychologists insist that they have a lot more to be stressed about for some fucking reason.

I think "the iPod Generation" is much more apt to describe Generation Y/Z.

What the fuck are we gonna use to describe generations past Z?

there is nothing after generation Z because thanks to the internet there are no trends anymore. everybody can diversify his interests and tastes without having to wait for people on TV and in print-magazines to tell him what to do or to think. Generation Z is the end of generationism and the beginning of ultra-individualism.

>> No.629185

>>629180
people look and think too much alike for your supposed ultra-individualism to be true.

>> No.629199

I guess we're still in Generation Z. Wait a bit.

>> No.629227

Individualists? I don't think so. Most people NEED to belong in some sort of social group, which have common interests(otakus, metalheads, whatever). Especialy teenagers. Internet only gives them options, how to communicate with other people like them, but it surely won't make them into individuals.

Howgh.

GenXer here, was gaming in the 70s and still going now. Gen Y just got what we had been testing and awsomising.

>> No.629285

Bit of a small point but I would always label Gen X as born 1969-1982. As in all the kids who were born AFTER the 60s/hippies/summer of Love, up to everyone who was 18 years old in 2000.

I don't think that the punk/post punk stuff was typical GenX music despite the name/band, but I think alt and grunge is synonymous with GenX, so the dates should be later.
