Help me out here /lit/

I have an exam at the end of this semester, english A levels. We have a 20 minute oral examination, 10-15 minutes for me to speak, and 10-15 minutes for questions and verdict.

I, of course, chose Infinite Jest as my subject, and I am struggling with the angle to it. I know a lot about DFW and the book, I thought about doing an angle on american consumerism, 'fun' and entertainment and put the book up against american society.

What do you think /lit/?

For something more directly tied to consumerism see Mr. Squishy in Oblivion

>oral examination

why the fuck do people pay money to be forced to speak in front of crowds of people, as if this is some kind of 'education'

sounds like a goddamn nightmare

>sounds like a goddamn nightmare

That's why you should do it. Why spend you life having anxieties about things when you can confront them and reduce or eliminate that anxiety?

Plus, if you're terrified of public speaking, and presuming you didn't majorly fuck up, all that adrenalin pumping through you feels fantastic for a long time after you step off the stage.

I don't have anxiety about public speaking, but it shouldn't be something that's part of an education you pay for inasmuch as it doesnt fucking teach you anything

Having to present and then defend your arguments orally doesn't teach you anything? Public speaking is super important, and there's only one way to get practice.

A levels are a piece of piss, don't try to be clever, just be solid on your chosen topic. Choose something halfway eays to talk about, and try to strike a balance between breadth and depth.

Also what the fuck board are you doing that has an oral examination? I did AQA, it was just essays and exams.

I am from Denmark, when I say oral examination it is just me, my teacher and a censor sitting around a table basicly.

Lel, you're never going to amount to anything purely online. You have to do some real world interactions to be noticed.

Yeah, I did a similar thing for French. Sounds like it should be fun, to be fair. As I said, strike a balance between detail and spreading yourself too thin. You'll be grand.

It is, I love these kinds of exams, there is usually coffee and it really is mostly just a nice chat if you prepare properly.
