You forgot aids-ridden.

Do people really think this guy wasn't just another aids-ridden, edgelord charlatan?

Apparently, yes.

You'll have to point out the specific ways in which he was a charlatan.

Literally all he cared about was young boys being able to fuck each other without impunity or scrutiny in schools.

What exactly did he say that even made sense? What exactly did he say that is in any way verifiable, or made any predictions? Is anything he said even intelligable in normal language - or, if it is, isn't completely banal/obviously misleading?

Also he is wearing a leather jacket in this picture.

I truly feel for you if you've actually read something like Discipline and Punish and thought that A) it didn't make enough meaningful predictions/diagnoses, and B) was written in unintelligible language.

Well, at least Pynchon isn't dogmatic enough to believe elites don't know they're doing terrible things.

Foucault was just another theory obsessed french man. Which is good, if all you do is write papers for obscure journals, then of course you will always think you've perfectly described the world (even if to say you can never perfectly describe the world) and you'll always criticism of your theory as proof that you're right and others are just stupid and resentful.

>> No.6519562

I think he genuinely believed all his power relations bullshit was right.

Insofar that that is the case he is not really a charlatan, but he can still be, and is, wrong in that case.

I think his sexual experience of getting rammed in the ass really effected his outlook on the world. Its a very unnatural powerless orientation being a bottom, and from that vantage point it might be very easy to misinterpret everything about power.

Yep. Foucault is downright fucking friendly and a bit too wink-wink fun by the time The History of Sexuality rolls around.

>> No.6520363

He's not a charlatan but he didn't do real historical analysis.

He'd argue that you don't need to.
