I never read philosophy but most of the arguments in reasons and persons seemed obvious and also really primitive. Like common sense made rigorous in a way, but not so rigorous as to be useful like math. Now GEB: an EGB and Conspiracy your statement applies to...

I picked up Paradiso by John Ciardi by itself and about six months later I had all three by the same translator second hand. When I bought Purgatorio I was telling the guy running the bookshop about it and he was extremely non-plussed which whatever; but this same sperger decided to tell me excitedly and at length about I guess a booktuber in retrospect who loved the book Heart of Darkness when I bought it.

They also failed to order both J R and The Recognitions for me, like 9 months apart. Fuck them. I am going to go offload all of my shit books to them, furthering their cluttered mess of shlock, and go to the new, clean, more reasonably priced bookstore instead.

I have that and I didn't think much of the translation. I can't vouch for how faithful it is, but it is not sufficiently beautiful in my opinion. When I reread it I intend to try Ciardi or Longfellow's version.
