Postmodernism really isn't as difficult to define as some would have you believe, especially if you have any working definition of modernism.

>A rejection of objective meaning.
>Consequent irony, self-reference, language-fuckery, etc.
>Any quote from Lyotard.

Is there a chart that shows books that view hedonism in a positive light, instead of "muh pleasure is bad". Would be interested in that, or just basic reccomendations

Transvaluation of values, will to power, pretty important for new right/traditionalist types.

Also, Twilight of the Idols is pretty much a critque of Euro culture at the time it was written, praise of Great Men, etc.

Pretty reactionary.

It's an umbrella term. Not worth much, I guess, but if you're college age and go to a very liberal/"progressive" university, it helps to have a term that covers the general feeling that you do not agree with the way the cultural compass is pointing.

(I do not mean to use liberal or progressive in a derogatory manner, or to imply that I prefer any one stance over the other. Universities very much have a particular political atmosphere and bias, is all I mean to say).

>>6817515

And of course I don't mean to say that the term is only useful for dissenting college kids, just that it is one example of the sort of person for which an umbrella term like "reactionary" might be useful.

It helps one find thinkers who can clarify the weird, nebulous thoughts that make one feel "different" or like they don't "get it."

I "wish" I didn't "use" so many unnecessary "quotes," but it is done.

I think that post was meant for someone that was starting out in college and just couldn't stand the greeks. It reads like he means to cut as many corners for reader, highlighting what's more and more optional or "core"
