This on top of

-a broken fucking site for years, that experiences as many 502 gateway crashes as uptime
-broken seeding
-nasty team of egotistical assholes running it (their forum responses and rude control of conversation is evidence of this
-broken ISBN searches
-refuse to disclose site issues or accept donations until just last night, when no doubt in order to cut down on users they started banning everyone.

And I was going to give them money. Well fuck them, I almost want to make a copyright complaint to publishers that have their stuff. bookfi and libgen for life (until they get taken down)

This is the shit that pisses me off most about the site. I've seeded 400mb files for hours before and only manage to upload MAYBE 60mb total. I like this thread, it confirms my suspicions about Bibliotik. I've been "scanning" books for ten years now, full time, and have many GBs worth of full volumes and partial volumes. I really want to share this stuff but haven't made a torrent yet. Not really sure if I should make torrents per volume or in groups. Also, it's all just folders of TIFFs, at about 50MB per image or more, not converted to PDF or epub or whatever because I don't have the time. I'd have to downsize everything first or I'd end up with a 5GB PDF. So, I've just got piles of stuff I can't seem to process or share properly. Maybe if I made a mediafire or mega (which?) account and shared them with you. Maybe I should just do that. What do you think? Today I've got an incunable from 1545.

I shoot each page as an optical 600dpi RAW file and process them into TIFFs. So here is where I have to decide....I can also process them out as "low res" JPGs at the same time, but the high resolution is one of the things that's valuable about the images, they're 1:1 ratio, so the TIFFs are true facsimilies of the volume. I feel like 72dpi JPGs would be so much less...yuck and yawn. A typical 500 page 12x16 or less item process into about 5-8GB, so if I can get that out into the wild, maybe someone else will run the actions to downsize. I've tried this but I can't spend the time running actions and stuff when I need to be shooting. Tonight when I get home I'll make a shared account and post a link to it and see what happens.

I don't share who I work for, but why do you think it's so impossible? People actually do this, you know. You know you could go look through some printings of HP yourself. A reading room at a Special Collections library would let you. I've shot a lot more unusual stuff than the HP 2nd ed. (first was 1499), who I work for has an excellent holding of material, and other collectors and libraries send stuff to the studio for imaging.
While I wait for stuff to process or transfer I sometimes peruse /lit/. I've wanted to share this stuff with /lit/ for a while now but my life is so fucking busy I haven't been able to put aside the time to figure out a good way to do it. So I've got to look into how to make a torrent, which can't be too hard, I guess. Anon I don't own the HP, we keep it in a very secure lockup, I take it out to shoot and keep it around a few days while I check for errors, then it goes back to an even more secure storage. I've been doing this a long time, ten years with the client I have now and assorted people and companies for ten years before that. It's not all cool old stuff, either.

> Is that because I was running a VPN?

Yes, on the few times ive used proxies ive gotten ban evasions. VPN networks will buy out whole blocks of IPs sometimes, and I guess 4chan blocks the root of the IP rather than the distinguishing number.

back when I was a full time spammer in the late 2000s this is what ISPs and major corporations would do

Why don't you try to add the torrent to a popular site like tpb and just share the link? That way it will stay up for anyone to be found.

My internet is one of those shitty ones in flyoverland US that you read about, it took 3 days to upload the 7 gigs in my first file. That one screenshot it like 3 gigs in and of itself.

I believe this is the magnet link I got the collection from....

Right back at you, one of the most fucked up books ive found on trackers. Anthropological treatises on how to become a shaman (hint, you will be smoking a lot of unfiltered tobacco and cutting yourself).

Its a bit dry, but the content is not

This Thread is Superb and I Love All of You

>> No.6897750

Been on that site for about 3 years and all these nuisances (502 error, broken tracker -happens mostly if you use that shitty uTorrent though) are absolutely nothing compared to the tremendous joy of finding almost any ebook you can think of.

That's cool, anon. What a sweet job. Thanks for responding.

You should start a blog or a tumblr, UL 1 book a week - posting some of the most interesting shots to grab attention. Tumblr is a joke but it has a thriving lit community and could help spread your work to a broader audience.

Think it's a deliberate failure to get you to install their plugin. Usually either works after a few/dozen minutes or upon a retry.

You might, might be able to help me. I am currently looking for some viking sagas but not editions translated to English. I want to be in old Norse.

Have any idea where I might find that in physical form? Googling is turning up nothing and I don't really want to translate it back.

That sounds interesting but probably not the kind of stuff that would come around on the camera on it's own. I just did a search for you and found this:
2. Jómsvíkíngasaga ok Knytlínga
Standardized Title:
Jómsvíkinga saga.
Publication:
Kaupmannahofn, Prentaðar hja H. F. Popp, 1828.
Format/Description:
Book
Online resource:
HathiTrust Digital Library Connect to full text
Probably won't be photographing this, but someone else has. That's all there is here, nothing else. I thought I saw you asking for viking stuff in another thread. Good luck.

Anon I made two torrents, added a PB tracker...then when I went to register with PB my email dropped into a hole and I never got the activation link. I tried to reset PW but nada. So F the PB. I can copy the magnet link out of uTorrent....but where the hell would someone search for and find the file? See, I'm sorry but this is the kind of BS I'm not interested in screwing around with. If I know I can just make the torrent, seed it and post the magnet link here with the basic trackers in it then great I will share share share.

I'm at the studio now so can't mess around with it till later tonight, but if I post the magnet link right out of uTorrent, will that work? I really don't want to join a torrent site and ask for invites and keep a ratio and all that crap.
