Reminder for those out of the loop:
"Dostoevsky, Fyodor. Dislike him. A cheap sensationalist, clumsy and vulgar. A prophet, a claptrap journalist and a slapdash comedian. Some of his scenes are extraordinarily amusing. Nobody takes his reactionary journalism seriously. The Double. His best work, though an obvious and shameless imitation of Gogol's "Nose." "
"Gogol, Nikolai. Nobody takes his mystical didacticism seriously. At his worst, as in his Ukrainian stuff, he is a worthless writer; at his best, he is incomparable and inimitable. Loathe his moralistic slant, am depressed and puzzled by his inability to describe young women, deplore his obsession with religion."

Why? His theories are obsolete and have no clinical basis. I mean do you want that just for the hell of it? This board seems to have a massive hard on for Freud. I mean sure maybe his writing is good in the literary sense but he is irrelevant in the modern day psychological world.

He did create a basis for current psychology in some ways though. I'm going to sit here and pretend he founded the science or anything, but its one of those cases where without his theories we never would have learned what we learned. Like Newton, whose theories break down at the quantum level but without whom we would have no basis for understanding quantum physics.

I would like to note that Freud isn't comparable to Freud though, Newton was much more crucial and intelligent and also, I don't respect psychology very much as a science in the first place.
