Hey /lit/
I randomly picked up this book and finally finished it. It was realy tedious for many passages and all of a sudden turned out to be weird.
I can't tell if I consider this book good or bad.

What's your opinion on this book and it's sequel?

>That book

Okay. Murakami starts to his a stride with this book, but it's not great.

>Its sequel

One of his best, in my opinion.

Is this the one where the sheep man comes in and asks the detective to help him find his ear?

>> No.917781

Forget about his novels. His short stories are much better.

the only other murakami book I read was south from the border west from the sun, and I liked it. Although I'm yet to decide what I think about sheep chase, do you consider the sequel a must read??

Dance, Dance, Dance (only a sort of sequel, because I read it before AWSC and it didn't matter one bit) is his best IMO. Murakami writes a good set of characters this time AND has something to say about his country and modern society.

I'm much more fond of Murakami's earlier works though (even parts of Pinball are great).

>His short stories are much better.
lol, no. Why do people always think this?

Yes.
