has there ever been a book published with no plot?

Thinking about writing an entire book just describing things. How bad of an idea is this ?
I'm published, but only with some critiques and a poem or two.

Jealousy. The plot is implied, I suppose. Last year at Marienbad is all superficial images of what may or may not have happened there year before. He had a stories about a detective that may or may not have been investigating a murder, but the title escape me.
