Anons... I am looking for a book or series where the hero is very Nietzschean and is incorruptible. I don't mind flaws but I am tired of the trope "nobility is actually just an illusion, nothing is better than anything else".

I have been reading some of the Witcher books but Geralt tries to stay out of stuff rather than do the noble thing. Does not have to be fantasy. Any suggestions?

How would you rank James Joyce's books in terms of difficulty?

I don’t get poetry. I’ve tried reading an occasional poem or a random collection but it does nothing for me—I can count the poems I “like” on one hand. Sometimes I think I expect too much, but poetry just doesn’t affect me like prose does, it just feels too emotionally detached, almost abstract. And I can’t say I care much for the construction of a poem.

I think it might just be lack of exposure that makes it so alien. Are there any poets who feel a bit more grounded and narrative, stuff that you’d recommend to a poetlet like me?

Why does /lit/ hate women so much? It's like a personality trait for some of you. I mean I dislike the majority of them, and so does my girlfriend, but I dislike the majority of men as well and some (rare) women are fine and I might even enjoy their company for a few hours. I don't think it's reasonable to waste my energy being negative about a specific half of the whole earthly population when I don't like 99% of people either way.

Is there anyone else who never had an edgy atheist phase and just slowly distanced themselves from religion until they realised there was no point in it anymore?
Like many people I don't think we will ever get rid of it and a prospering society always needs one but I just don't see any benefit from believing.

Judaism has Benjamin, Bloch, Celan, Stein, Zukofsky, Heine, Roth, Bellow, Kafka, Proust, Zweig,
Orthodoxy has ?????
Hmmmm. I can't think of anything. What does Orthodoxy have? Also Dostoevsky is adolescent literature so he doesn't count. Is Orthodoxy intellectually bankrupt?
