I’ll be honest, it’s hard to look at the genre without seeing Tolkien and Gary gygax staring back at you. But the genre is a framework, a set of rules. My story is original, although it clings to tropes established by someone else. I tried to incorporate a little final fantasy black and white mage action, and the 1980’s dungeons and dragons Saturday morning cartoon, but the plot twist is essentially from a. Comic book I read in the 90’s (ninja high school #5). Being GenX, I write about charcaters that are adolescents but don’t get caught up in the “YA” tropes because that shit didn’t exist when I was growing up so there’s no post hunger games Katniss Everdeen “she was a pretty girl but though herself very plain” bullshit that sucks the air out of the room. I believe the work stands on its own but I definitely see what your point is.

Hey guise, Gaskun here. I hope you each had a merry Xmas and possibly found time to work on your projects or read something during the holiday. I don’t tend to post much anymore but it’s for a good reason; I’ve been writing. And now that the project is done I can share the news with you. After 16 months Ive finished a brand new high fantasy series. 4 books, 80k words 88k 120k and 100k words each. It’s a story about a faun messenger girl who while traveling across the land delivering letters comes across a young prince fleeing for his life after his uncle has found a lich to kill his parents and subjugate the kingdom. The pair travel on in search of help which brings together a group of new friends and allies as they are relentlessly pursued across a land of wonder and magic by evils big and small. (Pic related) it’s the rough drafts in manuscript boxes. I always print, box and shelve the first draft. If you have something to share I’d be happy to hear about it

Writing new stuff! In addition to the 11 in the space opera series, I wrote a contemporary retelling of Dante’s inferno following a blind girl in a Kentucky trailer park and I’m 50k words through book 3 (of 4) of a fantasy series. always working.

This is a sister/companion book to that one. While it took place in the 90’s, this one is current date. The main characters only friend, Virginia, is the daughter of the big tiddy goth gf from the first book. That fiction town of white wreath is mentioned as well.
