>Have you read Life and Fate?
I have but I skipped over a lot of parts too so I am not exactly done with it.

Also, I can see you read both Blood Meridian and Moby Dick. How did you like them as sort of companion pieces?

They are not in any sense of the word companion pieces to each other or would make sense to read in parallel.
Blood Meridian was a very loose narrative with large themes to me.

Moby Dick was an indulgence I couldn't tear myself from, read it in a constant 18hr marathon sitting.

I have an end goal if thats what you mean.
It is simply that I can talk about all Conflict and Geopolitically significant phenomena throughout recorded history.

Your problem is that you don't read with a specialisation.
I took up War,Geopolitics and International Relations.
Russia and Central Asia centric even further narrows it down.
I can feasibly read most of the literature in this field.

Find your niche to master. That is the life hack to be content with your intellectual pursuits.

It's perfect in every single way Capt. Larteguy captured the French experience in Indo-China and Algeria post WWII.

Read the sequal The Praetorians too and do it right after because if you delay it would lose the psychological impact that makes the read worth it.
