A man rummaging through a vinyl bin at a flea market likes buying unmarked records for a quarter each. A grab bag, if you will.

A few of them contain recordings that elicit primitive responses, but unless you're going erotica, not "horny". Go with "fear", "adoration", and "disappointment".

A happenstance indoctrination of a friend leads to experimentation, and eventually digital conversion. Then the insanity begins.

People will be killed in pointless self defense. People will fixate on others they have no physical attraction toward. And people will go mad when the mightiest conquests and sacrifices will be met with "there there, don't worry, you'll do better next time"s.

Correct! Death it is. I assumed without more, people would assume I was trying to be crafty and use "lie" to mean "not telling the truth".

First line, though it's not evident until the second paragraph what's up:

She was a work of art, lying with a delicate precision.

But hey, no rush. I'm going to bed. I'll check back later. Thanks /lit/.

I would like some recommendations on good contemporary fiction. Got any?

Pic related. I dig Arthur Nersesian's stuff, and Chinese Takeout is my favorite.

Porn is not a medium. It can be any of the above mentioned things.

I feel the need to distill this.

Written word.
Interactive action.
Non-interactive action.
Video.
Pictoral.
Audial.

Of course, this is just me. I'm sure it varies for everyone.

I'm slacking so bad.

First paragraph, third sentence:

The one piece bathing suit had red and white horizontal stripes that, even with her lying on her back, accentuated her breasts perfectly.

Not as much as the breasts line.

For what it's worth, Chinese Takeout was indeed a rough read in parts, but it was that worthwhile journey of self-discovery that really had me cheering on the protagonist in those last few pages.

Also, a bump for you. I'm always open to more good drama. Far too much horror/scifi/fantasy type stuff in my diet growing up.

Conversely, if you want a modern mystery (well, 80s mystery, so, no cell phones, etc.) the Fletch books are awesome fun. But they're definitely not "heavy reads."

There's eleven books in that series. I've only read the first few.

Ahhh, a modern drama, gotcha. I really like Arthur Nersesian's work. My personal favorite is Chinese Takeout, but The Fuck Up was also good, if you can get over the fact that it was published by MTV Books back-when.

What do you mean "a book on modern life?"

>> No.1669259 [View]

Well, if anonymity is an issue...

Maybe you guys can recommend some cheap ebooks on Amazon in general?

I say cheap so I can get more of them. Surely you guys have dipped into those that have self-published on the Kindle.

Maybe a distinctive t-shirt? Not Casper, but, something along the lines of referencing his status, or even his role in the show? Or if you do decide to go overboard with the silly, then go with a Halloween costume.

Just, y'know, make sure they buy lots of whatever you go with.

Good call!
I'm also reminded of "Melvin Goes to Dinner," about four people having dinner and conversation. I found it built well into the end, where it finally boils over into a solid "well shit, I didn't see that coming," moment.

I'll likely bump this one more time in a few hours, but, any authors on /lit/ willing to cop to it? I'd like toss a few pennies your way, if you've got something on Amazon that sounds interesting, preferably an ebook..

12 Angry Men
Lifeboat
Night of the Living Dead
Reservoir Dogs
... Tons that are slipping my mind right now...
I quite enjoy films that rely on a single/limited location and characters. You really get to see the characters in them.

But why is this in /lit/?

>> No.1668824 [View]

>>1668788
Huh. Honestly I don't lurk like I used to, and didn't know it was a big deal.

But I assure you, Amazon gave me store credit for not having some physical books I offered when there was a run on them after a pricing error.

To the idea of walking around and observing the world, taking notes is as simple as pulling out your cell phone. Virtually all smart phones are capable audio recorders. I've taken to recording notes on ideas or phrases I want to use. And when transcribing I almost always find myself doubly invested in expanding the idea. It's like I'm giving myself a head start when writing it, and it's that much easier.

Ahoy /lit/.

Got some money from Amazon as an apology for selling out of my order and figured I'd see if anyone here had any ebooks to buy. So, any of you guys published anything on there?

Bonus points for drama or mystery. I already bought a couple of scifi books.

I just want something "good." That doesn't inherently mean "deep," but it can.
