/co/ had a decent Animorphs thread the other night. Might want to wait a few hours and try again.

Viewpoints from unusual things. I don't see it often. I forget the book, but I believe I read something where there was just a brief (page or two) viewpoint from a dog's perspective, and I just loved it.

inb4 somebody dumps the illustrations.

I liked Tales of Symphonia because of all them plot twists. Bioshock had a good twist, as well.

I don't know if its 'mediocre' or not, but I happened to really enjoy it. It wasn't typical, generic fantasy by any means.

I also like the fact that he's a cartographer and draws his own maps.

Nah man, Wolves and Dark Tower are fine. SoS is pretty meh, though.

Check out the Black Company series, as well as The Warded Man/The Desert Spear.

I also enjoyed the Fires of Heaven trilogy by Russell Kirkpatrick, but I seem to be the only person I've met who has read it.

Most likely. There is a metric fuckton of shit that happens in that book, as well as the others.

I hope that's his planned pace. It'll be rough at the start because of Wheel of Time. :\

Nah, its supposed to be 10 books, and he's got a shitload of books after that, including a Shardworld 'epic'.

>Twists in every other chapter
See, the thing about Sanderson that bothers me is that it seems as if each book is incredibly monotonous and tedious until say, the last one hundred pages. Then shit ALWAYS happens and gets real.

I'd really like to get a copy of his drafts from college or whatever that mention the Shardworld related stuff. I enjoy how he's subtlety tying in all of his books into one universe.

Mistborn series and Warbreaker are decent. Not sure about his other series, though.

Anyone read The Desert Spear? Worth it alone for that spear sodomizing.

Seventh Tower wasn't too bad, either.

Entertaining/interesting story; preferably with lots of twists and shades of grey.

Isn't Book 6 supposed to continue the normal writing style? ie no more splits.

I liked the book for the most part, sure, but my god, that ending was shit.

Didn't the main character bite that one kid's dick off? It's been a while for me so I may of remembered wrong.

Easily had the potential to be so much better, if there was a 'darker' theme. It was okay 'babbys first fantasy' but then you grow up.

There's a lot of 'dark/gritty' fantasy, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it makes it good.

Hmm. You've got a point. I just never saw it that way. Sure, the powerful mages, especially the Taken, were unbelievably strong, but they weren't omnipotent and were able to be defeated (read: most the Taken in the first book, as well as Stormbringer, especially). Goblin and One-Eye's magic wasn't overwhelmingly powerful either, and treated as just essential helpful tools.
