/lit/ is a really slow board. Threads here last for days, we look at threads all the way back to three pages.

Everyone always recommends the same shit here anyway sci-fi wise.

Asimov (pulpy but good, Foundation)
William Gibson (Necromancer, but most of his stuff is similar in quality, so any of his books would be good.)
and of course
Phillip K Dick ( Ubik, a scanner darkly, flow my tears the policeman said, man in the high castle, oh and his short story collections)

This. It was an ok Sci-fi book, and I am not a fan of Sci-fi at all. But once I looked him up after reading the book and saw his beliefs it made me quite sad.
