I like it, except the man has no motivation for being out in the cold - he has a wagon.

As to this talk about him having no personality, I would have him show more bravery at first, Perhaps have him shout something like: "Show yourself and fight" as opposed to "keep away". It is much more foreboding if even the brave are helpless against whatever you're monster is.

Stylistically and descriptively it is quite good. My 1st criticism is that it is a tiny bit cliched, but I don't really have any suggestions on how to fix that, and its only a small issue. maybe its because I've been reading Game of thrones and that whole book is a masterclass on how to describe the cold.

If you are at uni, Join a book club.

They will give you interesting things to read and set you a time frame to do it in, paradoxically a deadline can make it easier to read.

Pick a time to read, maybe for an hour or so in bed, or at lunch time.

Read books that interest you.

steal ideas

because all points have really been made before.

I did not realize this until I started uni - unfortunatly Im a science student so I will never use the nugget of gold I am about to give you.

If you are a good technical writer, then steal. Not a whole story line, but an idea. for example looking around my desk I can see a book of tom stoppard plays - one is entitled dirty linen: about the overexposure of politicians private lives.

Bam, done. the moral is - polies can do whatever they want in their own time, so long as the country gets run.

After seeing "Rock and Roll" and "Travesties" at the theater and watching "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead", I have decided that this man is a genius.

is anyone here a Tom Stoppard aficionado? what else is good by him? - I picked up Doggs Hamlet and Cahoots Macbeth as well as a bunch of his other stuff. Is it as good reading as it is seeing?

tl;dr Tom stoppard is cool

Although its probably nothing, I always though Kafka was lazy with his characters' names. I mean, he called one of them K. for Gods sake (later revealing that K. was actually... KAFKA. no shit).
