The Cadfael Chronicles. You may remember the TV adaptations with Derek Jacobi.
Summary: A crusader-turned-monk solves mysteries during the Anarchy in England.

Alright, let me help you out.

Cut. Cut. Cut.
'Miniscule (sic [spell check, bro]) beams of warm light melts away all doubts.' Can be cut to 'Minuscule light melts doubts.' without you actually losing that much. I know, there is a tendency in poets to want to fill in, but don't. You don't like fat girls, you don't like fat poems. Be concise.

Second, you end with a return (see 'I return to my...'). Don't do that. You want a poem about moving, make us move. Don't pull us back at the end. Also, if you want the self to be off-kilter, have that come across in the poem instead of stating it. Same goes for homicidal thoughts. Show us. Should be a good start for you, anon.

They gave me 3 free games when I joined.

Also, nab Outcast if you can. It's a Stargate-esque first/third person shooter with RPG elements. Excellent story, universe, voice-acting and score.

The game world is huge. Fast travel is a must. I've played through the game three times and have yet to find every nook and cranny. The story is not a railroad, per say, but you do have to jump through some hoops. If you really want, you can just say 'fuck it' and do your own thing.
Magic... technology... It's all good.
The game is cheap and on GoG.

Pic related; essentially my second character.

They seek him here,
They seek him there;
Those Frenchies seek him everywhere.
Is he in heaven,
Or is he in hell?
That damned, elusive Pimpernel.

Also, Orson Scott Card sucks.

Don't read them. I honestly felt like they tarnished my experience with the originals. Couldn't get through the House series. It sucked that hard.

And, yes, knowledge of the Forgotten Realms is needed for many of the larger named authors. It's because they are the ones who are allowed to make significant changes to the world and push the timeline forward. Because of that, they tend to have more sweeping stories, with many more characters (some you'll see recurring with other authors), and convoluted plots. If you start with the early 90's and 80's stories, you'll learn everything you could ever want to know and more.

First of all, welcome to the Forgotten Realms. It's a great setting with lots of variety and numerous good authors attached.
Now just get a book from 15 years ago. The newer pieces are pretty trashy. That Orc King novel is a travesty, but it's meant as a transition piece for two different DnD systems.
I'd suggest Elaine Cunningham's Songs and Swords series, which was fun. Also, early Salvatore really is some good stuff. Pretty cheesy, yeah, but it is DnD. Also, the Avatar Trilogy is fantastic. You will love Cyric beyond belief.

I read Lovecraft for the joy of reading Lovecraft. He doesn't really do too much stylistically that pushes the art forward. But he is very enjoyable.

My first encounter was with Battletech and the novel series that accompanied it. While it still holds a very special place in my heart, my favorite sci-fi lit piece is Dune. Dune Messiah was also amazing, though I swear I am one of two fans who enjoyed it.
