It's super easy to bullshit.
I read 2-3 of the required readings for a class, or sometimes only Sparknotes them the night before an exam.

I get by with a B average, roughly.
Wait until school's over so I can read what I want without feeling guilty about it.

University's a fucking hole, anyways.
I certainly hope we're 'saturating' the academics. I'm tired of assholes getting paid to discuss theories and study criticism.

tl;dr I hate my major and wish I applied to Creative Writing or Theatre.

I read the whole thing the other day.

Read 200 pages of the sequel today.

I definitely have problems with her writing and shit... and the protagonist can be a fucking twit most of the time... but I'll still read the entire trilogy.

tl;dr: not as bad as OP or other posters think. They're either pretentious shitheads, or never finish books anyways.

one short story a month.
two books that aren't part of classes a month (when in school).

I'm more perturbed by how every fucking person wants to be a writer.

"So, what do you want to do with your English degree?"
"Well, ultimately, get paid to write."
"OH! No way, I want to be a writer too!"

Sorry, dudes.
But the guy was writing a how-to for pedophilia which included the best ways for the kid to lie to his parents about having a relationship with an old creepy man who was fucking him in the ass.

Just as a how-to guide on committing genocide is illegal in most countries, so should how-to guides on how to fuck my kids.

I also carry seven swords, a battle axe, a large Gothic-style shield, a bag of cement, a chisel, two large flint rocks, and a year's supply of canned food, and all of Shakespeare's works on my person at all times. Therefore, according to these rules, they would all be transferred to the island with me.

Could probably use a bow-and-arrow more likely, though... dang. Or some hunting spears. Or a pistol...

Hey guys,

Band up with me. I just finished reading The Hunger Games, so I'm pretty sure I have the best knowledge on survival here.

It's from Urban Outfitters?

Way to commercialize my book choice, fucking asshole.
Go back to choking on Derrida's mummified codpiece.

I am now accepting any advice on books my mom would like.

She has a PHD in Religious Studies, a diverse background in art history and native studies, and prefers weird and whacky takes on history/the world. Also is the matriarch of a large family and loves books on motherhood n'shiiit.

She gave me one book idea. It sucked and I don't want to get her said book. Not to mention it cost $30, you can only buy it online, and I'm broke and only have until Saturday.

What are some cool nonfiction books that follow the history of one object or subject or whatnot?

My mom's super into books that follow the origin and history of a specific topic. I.e. history of the penis, history of books, history of colour, etc.

I need to come up with a Christmas gift to buy her ten minutes before I give it to her, and this is a hard topic to search for.
Anything related to 'the history of books' will help, too, as that's her favourite.

Pic related.

Calling all /lit/friends:
we need to take all of society's books and move them into a deep cavern, protected in plastic sheathing and safe for all eternity... or, at least, 10,000 years - which I think is how long it takes plastic to degrade. And then maybe another 250 for the books themselves.

Who's with me?
We're going to start a colony of people with some fucking brains. Fuck your technological changes

>So who is "Deep&Edgy !pSkjEcB9sQ"? He started posted on /fa/ and he is certainly a character.

Never heard of him before, maybe check /fit/ or something?

I propose a /lit/ meetup.

Who is in the Northwest North America area? (BC, Washington state, Oregon, etc.)

And who has the balls to leave their bedrooms?
Hosers.
