Well, James Herbert's third Rats book, Domain, where survivors of a nuclear holocaust ride out the radiation in shelters in London's Underground while evading the murderous titular rats of the series as well as dangerous survivors, illness, insanity and other perils of atomic armageddon. It also has Margaret Thatcher getting devoured by rats, even if offpage.

It's The Bellmaker. I'll leave shelfanon to perusing his collection a bit longer.

Oh, the clog guy lived. There's a monologue from him burying all the corpses from the final battle after he goes crazy.

My face hit the wall with a meaty, viseral thud.

Title is 'I Married A Kickboxer'.

He's one of my favourite scifi authors but the Void trilogy is probably one of his worst. I did try rereading The Dreaming Void, as I remember parts of it being pretty good, but I got to the intro chapter for Corrie-Lyn and my memory went NOPE

Try some Iain M Banks next, his Culture books are awesome. Or Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn trilogy, if you want another quality series with old people fucking in it.

According to Herbert's book Eye, they filmed about five hours of movie which was meant to include all the stuff they removed, like Chani's entire plot, and more, but had to cut three hours to make it screenable. How they'd get around the casting or the black rubber suits in the desert is beyond me, though.

Oh, didn't you hear about that? It's the new rereleased and expanded edition, co-written by Kevin J. Anderson. He's apparently going to revamp and expand the whole series.

I've forgotten the name and the author (this is twelve years ago) but the guy was on a similar level to Shaun Hutson as far as quality went. There were scenes where all the boys in the gents toilets were crushed by the walls shrinking, and all the girls in the ladies toilets were dropped down what was essentially a long metal tube, except with razors occasionally poking out into it and slicing off body parts. Not really memorable, annoyingly.

Cheap, shitty, forgettable horror novel about a possessed cinema, where a girl gets fucked by a hand made of chewing gum. And then fucked to death by the chewing gum no longer playing around, which was a boner killer.

I'm not sure what's more enraging - the excerpt of the review itself, the fact the link to the rest of the review is broken, or the comments.

Skip book 10, go straight to 11, which is a pretty big improvement, and then 12 and 13 are much better past that.

If you want to know what happens in Crossroads of Twilight:

It's people reacting to the event at the end of Winter's Heart for something like 90% of the book, and then Egwene gets kidnapped by the White Tower. That's it. Seriously. Read Book 11 next.

It says Graendal did it in the glossary. Along with a massive spoiler for the book itself so don't read the glossary before you finish the book.

I refuse to let this series beat me - I don't care if I can't stand approximately 45% of the chapters written for it, the good parts are just good enough to warrant continuing it. Also, I just want to see how it ends.

Remember how things were at the end of book 9?

Book 10 is just people reacting to that, and then Egwene gets kidnapped by the White Tower.

That's it. That's the whole book.
