G-d works in mysterious ways. Those ways can sometimes be people like Peterson. He basically filled a vacuum by telling people they had to take responsibility for their lives and restating the age of truth that ones life is not for the enjoyment of the one living it but for the purpose of serving others and moving the species forward.

Your looking at his work the wrong way. Hes being hyperbolic and just expressing his vocation. Your probably just losing motivation because you haven't uncovered your exact vocation yet. Try writing lyrical critiques of Cioran from an optimist point of view. Or from the point of view of Ecclesiastes.

Also remember your life is not for you to enjoy. Its to give others enjoyment and support. To the extent that Cioran was actually pessimistic and depressed- which i think this board really over exaggerates- it was a result of his childish clinging to the primacy of his own feelings instead of maturing to the point of realising the necessity of serving others not yourself.
