None of these objections about his writing mean shit. You clearly have a personal issue with hime. Fine. Plagiarism of ideas is almost impossible to prove and is frankly, at least in literature, bullshit. Look up transtextuality, all literature borrows or steals from other literature. Get over it.

Would you consider the use of the word "imperceptible" an unintentional concession that the organism contains, as a dualist would assert, an immaterial component ? or would it be more appropriate to say that materialists like La Mettrie were constrained by limited scientific knowledge, as the emergence of the quantum realm has rendered the imperceptible perceptible ?

What are some texts that make decent arguments for materialism ?
La Mettrie, the so-called empiricist, uses mostly logic to argue his point. The "imperceptibly gradual scale" of differences in material organisation supposedly differentiates the human from the animal, but surely his argument becomes hinged on faith as soon as a word like "imperceptible" is introduced into his explication.
Is this problem resolved somewhere in his work or in other monist literature of the time, or later ?

>heroes strongly linked to a place, their home, which they represent and for which they fight

All these screenwriters and producers have read and apply Poetics to their narratives, simply swapping out archaic elements for ones that the modern audience will relate to

Good post. When I say 'This' to
>Regular sex CANNOT compete with the heights of cooming on the level of physical pleasure
it's not because I really believe it or think that it's an objective truth, it's just because that's how it seems to me. I would like to break this way of thinking before it does serious damage to my relationships and way of viewing sex and pleasure.

>Regular sex CANNOT compete with the heights of cooming on the level of physical pleasure
This. I have a gf who lives in a different city and so when we see each other (very weekend / other weekend) I have trouble cumming cos I'll have watched porn throughout the week and coomed. Obviously she notices, comments on it, feels inadequate. She knows I watch porn and coom through the week and the effect it has.
Like >>19984909, all my solutions have only worked temporarily, I know I just need to stop being a slave to my urges / boredom / routine, but one of the best strategies was to watch porn documentaries, it ruins the illusion for me and prevents me from entering into fantasy when I watch porn, for a while at least.

Real busy and don't have time to read even half the things I would like to.
I liked Being John Malkovich and even Adaptation was ok.
Does he have skill as a novelist ? Is this book any good / worth the $ and time ?

>we don't have freedom
If we didn't have freedom you wouldn't be typing this.
The point of BNW is to show how inhuman this new world is, NPCs like you that the government and sociopolitical climate have bred are perfect for a society like that, but some of us enjoy our political and greater freedoms in spite of problems you exaggerate to hell.
>the Ford guy at the end seems to actually have everyone's best interests in mind unlike our own evil overlords who don't give a fuck about us
The people in power who express their beliefs tend to be utopian, otherwise I prefer having selfish money-grabbing fucks at the top, since utopia is the worst imaginable destiny for us

You aren't alive in the era of unanimous political suppression and government control. The two are problems today that must be addressed before snowballing but stop LARPing like you're a Delta with no freedoms whatsoever.

Our mind is a program that constantly writes itself according to what's taken in by our senses.
Without sense stimulus, it would be unimaginably difficult to come up with more than a handful of things.
