I'm going to read Dune after finishing the Game of Thrones books, purely because of the amazing campness that is the Lynch movie.

I've never read it. It's very popular, but so is everything Glenn Beck writes, so...

Related to OP, I get this all the time

Customer: Do you have Homer's Odyssey?
Me: Oh, yeah, it's back here in poetry. Wait, did you mean the Greek mythology one or the blind cat one?
Customer: There's a Greek mythology one?

I mean, where do they think the name came from? I don't get it.

Because it's not e-ink. It's fucking LCD.

You might as well be reading on your laptop or phone or some shit.

Everything else: Meh tier at best.

Oh, also, working at parking garages. You sit there and do nothing until people come to pay you.

Work at Barnes and Noble at the nook desk.

You have to hang out there the whole time, and usually don't have anything to do but talk to people about the nook. When it's slow, that means you have an e-reader, unlimited money, and nothing else to do.

I've finished several books on the job.

They put way too much random shit on those sandwiches. All sorts of herbs and bits of shit.

But yeah, sounds like that guy feels the same as I do.

nook color is a stupid piece of shit. This is coming from a guy who gets paid to sell them.

But you know what? It's a stupid piece of shit that our customers demanded. When we launched the original nook, we had all sorts of idiots come in and complain that the top screen wasn't touch, that it was in black and white, that it wasn't back-lit, that there weren't enough games on it, etc. People came in and said things like "Wwhy would I want this when I can read on the iPad in color?"

So we made a stupid LCD e-reader for stupid people who wanted another device that can do all the things their overpriced phones can already do. And guess what? It sells like fucking hotcakes, and all the smart people still buy the original model.

Man, that shit ain't just at second-hand stores.

For a year we were telling people to get nooks because the Kindle doesn't have a replaceable battery.

Then the color came out, and the battery wasn't replaceable. We called people to find out why, and they said "it's just designed that way."

Now there're a bunch of people who don't want to buy the color because of the battery, and we lost a selling point.

Idiots.

We make minimum wage, but the company treats us pretty well for it.

Haven't heard anything about buying Borders, but then, I wouldn't.

It's a year, you moron.

Huh. I wasn't aware of that loophole.

I was actually saving up to buy this huge unabridged leather bound set with color illustrations from a local used bookstore, but someone beat me to the punch. It was like $400. Maybe I should turn some of that towards this.

Is it humorous like his other books?

I actually got an advance copy before it came out but only got a few pages in. I've enjoyed a lot of other Pratchett, I should probably just read it.

I actually haven't, because I already own the paperback version.

Every time I see it I consider it, though, if only as something to put on the mantle. It's also one of my favorite works, so...

Yeah, most of those are pretty bland. Some are okay.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, classics are all buy two get one free in our stores at the moment. So you might want to grab them there instead of online, not sure what the online discounts are.

Maybe some of them, but our 'leatherbounds' are gorgeous. Every time I walk by that beautiful Arabian Nights cover I consider proposing.

Pic related. It doesn't shine in this image, but it's still great.

People bring these back to the store all the time.

They're all like, "This book's pages were cut wrong, can I exchange it for another one?" They never believe me when I tell them it was intentional. I've had people insist they saw it cut "correctly" in some other store. This happened -all the time- with Warren Buffet's biography.

Oh god. I'm sorry.

I've never read it, but it has been damn popular for the last three years. I've been told that to non-religious people it actually comes of as extremely creepy for some reason or some shit.
