IVY LIFE:
Ungrounded excitement gave way to irrational fears,
My parents departed and set forth the tears,
Sitting -- in a room stark and bare,
My dreams, it seemed, could not be there,
Soon I began to discover youth,
Equally determined to find worldly truth,
Motivation ran deep in their bones,
Something rare in our respective homes,
Classes began, yet no bells rang,
Trusted to succeed, our intellect sang,
Voices held back in fear of rejection,
Began to openly express concern and objection,
Our adolescence was lost in college life,
Our environment earning determination and strife,
We left our lectures and moved outside,
Rules, forgotten, which had made us bide
Time -- now opportunity was found,
Our ambitions seemed to be renowned,
Boyfriends and girlfriends were discovered and lost,
Weeks churned and our minds tossed,
Best friends became ours, forgetting back home,
Curfew came and yet we were rarely alone,
We continued to succeed, in all aspects we tried,
Social, intellectual, academic, we cried
Out -- for now we found,
Where we longed for our lives to be bound,
College trips pretended to give us a clue,
When really it was evident we already knew,
Campus was where we placed our hearts,
And ivy life granted infinitely more than classroom smarts.

My dog kept scooting his bottom across the floor of my house. I wanted to see what he was doing and why he was doing it. The rest is history.

Cont.:
His actual name is Vergilius. The modern version of that is Vergil. Idiots call him Virgil because they're idiots.

Oh. And Cicero. In Catilinam = ♥, even if he was writing for political (id est courtroom) reasons.

I don't like Catullus. I love Ovid, especially the Metamorphoses. And Vergil is simply a genius.
