hey I'm back

photo shows the four books I'm giving to /lit/. if you'd like one, shoot a message (email in option field) with your book of choice and your mailing address. ill mail them later this week. the books:

>kafka on the shore, haruki murakami
a murakami staple, standard magical realist fare, but my least favorite of his works. lots of people tell me they love it (though not as much as windup, generally), so maybe you'll like it more than me

>olympos, dan simmons
the sequel to 'ilium'. not as strong as the first book but well worth the read. if you get this book and haven't already read ilium then obviously I'm going to suggest you do that first. incorporates a lot of the iliad and even some of the voynich manuscript, if you can believe that

>pale fire, vladimir nabokov
wow, its awesome. i loved lolita and ranked it among my favorite novels but pale fire blows it out of the water imo. incredible writing, a joy to read, and very funny. this book was on the /litclub book club, so thanks for that guys

>under the volcano, malcolm lowry
dense at first but you get used to it. unpleasant depiction of delirium tremens and ultimately tragic. also semi-autobiographical, which adds to the tradegy. was also on the /litclub book club reading list.

lmi if y'all got questions

i like to idea of books going to people who will read them and who may then pass them on again. don't see the point in hoarding books i've read, life is too short to re-read any but the very, very best books. not to mention ive got pretty much everything on kindle
