What technology needs giant magnet rings? Fusion reactors.

What about these big space telescopes? You need to manufacture crazy perfect glass for the lenses. No one would have the money to just go "oh, we're just going to make some good glass incase we need it". And now they have that for all kinds of other applications.

Scientific fields aren't a set of separate entities; these projects produce lots of spin-off technology from the get go and they collect data for long term development.

It's a win-win situation.

Why are art students so defensive? I'm in engineering and everyone is chill as fuck with cool interests. In arts everyone seems to have to prove they're winning at something. Some would say that they're wiser and smarter than a science student because they understand the complexities of the human mind.

I understand art has it's place, but honestly, why would anyone want to go to school for it?
