How much longer do we have until we can use this to safely repair genetic damage in humans? Is it already possible but the red tape is stifling things? How do I find people who will do this for me? Legal clinical trials or not.

i dont know , im a layman. check the studies linked in the article, its a new development.

they can already do it.

please explain further if not larp. how can I get in on it? especially mtdna repair

it was being done in china. even had people getting cancer eaten out of their lungs by a controlled infection that only targeted diseased cells. the gataca dna method is b.s. they need to map out the cellular patterns of your body on a atomic level first then generate the gmo viri and inject it into you after simulating your dna and rna codes in a simulation.

start looking for legit china medical institutions is my advice. it's not just for embryos.

I see. what do you think of the mtdna repair stuff linked in the article? do you suppose that they're successfully doing this in china too?

let me put it this way. cas9 has the potential for genetical metamorphosis. it has the potential to give you genetic perfection.

I dont want perfection, at least at the moment. I just want to repair my genetic damage. is it possible now and where can I find someone to safely do it or at least try?

the ovaries or testicals would have to be edited to control how eggs and sperm would be developed.

right off hand I can't remember the institute that did a test for curing Sycle cell but the woman had to go on chemo for 30 days as her genetics and immune system were being edited. it's hell on wheels so you will need good drugs to help deal with the side effects of the chemo. check around the internet. it was a filmed news broadcast.

this was chinese or american? and was it successful, did they cure her condition?

does chemo have long term or permanent effects? and doesnt it damage dna too? that is kind of counterproductive for a dna repair treatment lol

sorry don't have the source. I just remember reading the article months ago.

it was in America and yes it worked.

the chemo is used to shut down the immune system so that you can reprogram it before your reprogram your dna. if you just reprogram your dna first your immune system will attack the new dna and slowly kill you. this is a far far worse scenario.

I want this shit to fix my psoriasis. I also want it to significantly extend my life span.

I see. there's no way around that besides chemo?

>> No.11210488

>>11210450
not that I know of no. tho if you were to study the your immune system you may be able to come up with a drug that could effect it but that's just a guess at best. chemo is a shit method I agree and need to be replaced with something that is less toxic. it also costs a lot.

Several decades, selective somatic DNA repair is in its infancy and CRISPR is not really a technology that can do it, we don't really have enough of an understanding of the genetic etiology of most diseases (for the most part we just know some promising correlations), and in any case many issues are developmental and repairing the DNA in a grown organism won't fix it.

Between grant proposals, publication abstracts, and popsci translations thereof it's all hype. The PIs don't believe it and neither should you.

my particular problem a reaction from a drug so its not long-term or developmental. read the article and studies. they repaired mtdna in mice and are prepping for human trials next year. sounds like more than hype to me.

It's in a mouse fibroblast cell culture, not living mice. There are no effective delivery methods for doing this in vivo in the sense of actual living animals.

Even once there is TALEN is just as limited in scope as CRISPR.

Certain sequences correspond to certain biological activities in RNA/protein creation and regulation. You can therefore design and chemically synthesize custom sequences to do things for you.
