Why is lithium chloride toxic for consumption, but not sodium/potassium/rubidium chloride?

>> No.11404239

It isn't. It's even used as a mood stabilizer in medicine.

Hell if I know. Why is salt so yummy but its elements can kill me? Why is water made from flammable gases? Glad we have chemists. It's all greek to me.

That's not lithium sodium? Ignore me. Drunk off my arse.

Isn't rubidium salt used for that tho? i don't think they just inject you with lithium for that

Wrong, brainlet.
It was used like 80 years ago before they stopped due to its toxicity.

Lithium carbonate is still used widely.

A question of biology really. If I had to venture a guess I'd say that cells utilize sodium because it is more available than most of the alkali groups. Also it is much more chemically stable, the lower group metals have violent reactions, which is never ideal for the precise homeostasis our bodies need to keep working

Implying dragons aren't a metaphor for angels, which are perfect shards of creation.

Lithium was abandoned as a salt substitute, because some people overdosed. It is still used as a medicine. Rubidium chloride used to be used as an antidepressant, but it isn't anymore, possibly because of its expense or because it might cause mania.

d-doesn't that technically cure depression though? Mission accomplished I would say.
