No, at least on Earth. We have (or had) way too many easily accessible resources for that, and I don't even mean oil, metals and more importantly phosphates are so plentiful no one could have used them on a massive scale before. And the fossil record as well as geological studies are inconsistent with an advanced nonhuman civilization that could have flourished in the past (we'd see unmistakable quarries for example, those will be recognizable as artificial features for literal hundreds of millions of years). Maybe the Solar System was bled dry by super aliums long ago and that's why it's relatively impoverished, but they didn't touch Earth or the huge ass organic lodes on Titan or Venus which would be a prime target for any type 2 civilization even if they couldn't eat hydrocarbons like we do.

Anyway, there's nothing "scientific" to discuss here. Certainly, there could not have been any ancient metal-using civilization more industrially or technologically advanced than modern ones, due to the lack of the surface metal element depletion, which we observe everywhere humans have used metal tools.
Contemplating a civilization of minds that are abstractly philosophically or psychologically "better" than ours is pure speculation. I can imagine it, it's not absurd, it's just not really measurable or demonstrable.
If I were going to speculate though, I would say that it seems likely to me that there would have been many ancient people who were more mentally agile and culturally actualized than most alive today.

If you're a Christian, the base Idea is that humanity devolved and devolves as times goes on, because the corruption of sin.
Which is why ancient civilizations could do all of that and we don't really know how.
For instance, Amerindians making Pyramids with stones that are so hard that modern bricks can break on them.
And it's how Noah would build a gigantic arc (also seen on other cultures), or the Easter Island Statues got buried.
There's also the Idea of the Nephilim, which were Giants and could do such things easily.
Most of these details are up to speculation, however. We don't know exactly how things were.
We would try to make up for our corruption with our own tech, but not becoming even close to what we can do with God's grace. Adam himself lived for 700 years or so.
