Drugs in general give you withdrawal because they either inhibit the function of receptors on your cells, or activate them. This causes the cell to either generate more of these receptors or remove them in order to bring its average level of activity back to normal, which is why you develop tolerance to drugs. Diarrhea symptoms are fairly easy to explain by cAMP hypofunction in intestinal cells, but the rise in temperature is more difficult to explain. If it does in fact occur (instead of being a perceived change of temperature only on the part of the addict) I'd guess it's because opioid receptors are strongly expressed in the hypothalamus which is involved in the regulation of body temperature.

A general rule of thumb is that withdrawal symptoms are the inverse of the physiological effect of the drug itself. Since opioids have a very strong suppressive effect on the sympathetic nervous system by virtue of the opioid receptor distribution, it stands to reason that withdrawal activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Hence, muscle tension and increase in temperature.

the truth is your bain generated more opiod receptors when it finds out all are occupied (because you are high). Therefor, you get tolerance (it takes more H to fill all the receptors) and when you are not high, you feel fucked because your body doesnt properly recognize the dopamine you produce (and you need to work properly)

I've been through withdrawal a few times. It was a wonderfully horrible experience that felt like it would last forever but was only a day or two.

That said, that horribly vivid and realistic dream was kinda cool. It almost made up for going through the experience of withdrawal, almost. It was certainly more interesting and mentally intriguing than heroin itself, which is probably one of the most boring drugs known to man. Give me mainline ketamine any day.
