I don’t know what to do guys. I’ve been in this limbo. Pretending to do stuff but not doing anything. I quit my job when corona started. I’ve basically been living off my savings and they’re running out. I just want to do something but then I think of what they say and it’s true. I’ll never accomplish anything relevant on that field. I’m gonna be 23 this month. But I’m too unmotivated to go back to college. I don’t know what to do.

You're in the field because you find it interesting, right? Pursue that interest, give out your labor, and get paid. That's all you need to do, not try to win awards or anything.

Thanks guys... I've always liked to do research but I feel very discouraged and depressed and that makes it so I don't put real effort anymore. And I get mocked to for not going to a good college after hs. I went to a shitty community college for a couple of years and it was soul draining. The comments from friends and family didn't help either. Cousins went to NYU and Columbia and brother went to Cornell. I kinda want to go to NYU but I know I'm going to get rejected, should I take the SAT again? I don't even know what to do... I've always loved biology, I saved for a while to buy a decent microscope and I study mainly arthropods... But parents made fun of it, saying it was just a "Phase" or just a shitty "hobby"

i realy dont get this. are you interested in bio? do you like it? then do it. you can make money with bio iff thats whats important to you. or you can do really interesting shit in bio iff thats your cup of tea. sometimes even both. you have one life here on earth and you will spend a lot of it working, iff not most. so find a job you enjoyie and go for it.
i fucking love studying biology. biochem is my shit. i also love anything to do with microbiology. have fun and study
