built for big black hole

>> No.12424638

>Astronomers from the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan used their own data collected over 15 years to create another Milky Way map.
>They estimated Earth’s position relative to the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way.
>Back in 1985, Earth was thought to be 27,700 light years away from Sagittarius A*.
>The new map puts it at 25,800 light-years away.
>Scientists think Earth would be pulled apart inside a black hole but there’s no need to panic just yet.
>25,800 light-years away is a huge distance so Earth won’t be anywhere near Sagittarius A* for a long time.

We thought we were 27,000 light years from the center of the galaxy but a new map shows we're 25,000 light years away.

Oh no, we're moving close to the galaxy's central black hole .....

So, we have covered 1900 light years in 35 years, or we can say that we cover per year 54 light years.
This means we have 477 YEARS TO GET OUT OF EARTH BEFORE WE ARE SHALLOWED BY A BLACK HOLE

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

>> No.12430649

>>12424620
So do we have actual confirmation that this change in the last 35 years is indicative of a rate at which we're approaching it or is it just an amendment to an old calculation?
Also, if we are indeed heading towards it, I'd assume the rate we approach it wouldn't remain static, so that ~475 year figure is probably smaller because as the pull of gravity increases we'd likely accelerate

The evidence is by how it bends light. Basically, they have a theory, it predicts a bunch of very specific results. They then take measurements and find that the results fit the theory.
>INB4 BuT iT'S jUsT a ThEoRy11!
Yeah, but it's kinda like, if you knew a guy who said he'd figured out how to know the lottery numbers, and every week, he called the exact right numbers. He explained the theory to you, and then you went and tested the method on a bunch of other lotteries and it worked. The point being, the theory predicts novel events, so it's clearly not just a coincidence.
