Simply put reading books is still the most efficient way to gain knowledge. If you havent read 10,000 hours by age 30 Id argue you have failed as an intellectual.

>> No.9454870

Jesus, will you insecure brainlets stop making threads like these already? No, you cannot become smarter. Intelligence is entirely genetic, can't be improved, and declines more with age the dumber you are. All neuroprotective activities and practices are just that, protective, not amplifying.

You can either research what you want to do, look up the average IQ of a person who succeeded in that field, adjust according to your own IQ, or live in denial until you're forced to acknowledge your inferiority.

When I had studied Physics, I only needed to listen in class and practice a few hours once a week or to maintain my 4.0 GPA. Never did I experience great frustration, confusion or lack of understanding. I have 142 IQ.
Some my classmates quite literally studied all the time, yet nevertheless could at best manage a mediocre GPA, with a nontrivial ration flunking out. Their IQ, as far as I had gathered, ranged from 120 at best to 100 (!) at the absolute worst, with GPA correlating linearly.

I didn't. We talked about it and they told me theirs. Some were professionally tested and others gave a rough estimate based on online tests and general function.

>>9454877
Not how it works. Physics isn't about memorization, at least not in good unis. The problems presented at our tests bore no resemblance to given assignments other than the belonging to the taught subject, and more significantly they required using our knowledge in novel ways, rather than just vomiting formulas.

Regardless, intelligence clearly poses a ceiling along with its multiplier. Much like how a dog would never be able to learn calculus, I doubt even given all the time in the world that guys with 100 IQ could succeed in physics, though they might be able to scrape 4.0 in undergrad. But that's in fantasy, in reality they simply stand no chance.

You have no subtlety, you're inferior trash failing to masquerade as an intellectual. Academia requires no intelligence to succeed at, regardless of your whether you invent a delusional fantasy about your school requiring you to "use knowledge in novel ways." If you were actually smart, you'd be better at your sociopathic attempts to manipulate people emotionally. That would be a true reflection of intelligence, in direct contrast to applying boring formulas to boring problems and then patting yourself on the back because everyone else fell asleep. You're nothing.

>> No.9454896

>>9454892
Disregarding its connection to intelligence, IQ is literally a tool to predict, successfully according to data, academic performance.

The average IQ of a physics major is around 130, and as far as I had seen, the grades in our classes correlated heavily. No matter how many ad hominems you throw at me, how much you try to mask your lies with sophistry, you are simply barking against facts.

A human brain is simply a neural network. And if you look at point A of the brain and point B of the brain at a cellular level you will notice they are identical.

So dont pat yourself on the back that you have an IQ of 150 or 150 million. You are still a stupid neural network in the grand scheme of things.

Any brain above a certain threshold can do any problem given to it. Just because you got lucky and had other neural networks giving your own neural networks a damage free environment with maximum stimulation doesnt make you a god damn genius. If you were a genius you would be solving problems like the millenial puzzles given in math for fun on a Friday night.

N=NP? Easy.

Building a quantum computer? Easy.

Talking to girls? Easy.

Resolution of singularities in characteristic p? Easy.

Try to be a little more useful than a rock while you live out your last 2,500,000,000 heartbeats. Or at least enjoy yourself while the adults actually solve useful problems.

Ok, good point. But even if the respective scientists were intelligent, there were lots of discoveries where they didn't use their brainpower.

Intelligence is not entirely genetic, no study on Earth says that.

Most studies place heredity of IQ between 40-75% with that number being lower as a child and higher as an adult

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heritability_of_IQ

Just read this. The tldr is you CAN improve your IQ with environment (nb: studying a lot) and this is essentially true throughout life, but if you're young, get on it, since your mind is far less malleable as you age.

To the OP: don't worry about IQ. Just make yourself study something

>> No.9455131

>>9455118
Nobody has shown that intelligence can be increased much by studying, either. Unless you're some trailer trash or ghettonigger, anyway. It's more along the lines of "getting hit in the head is bad".

Environmental factors account for a lot of the variation in subjects exposed to harsh environments in their developmental years, but drop off rapidly when you reach more tolerable standards of living. What this is suggests that you have some genotypical potential that mostly gets negatively affected by your environment. Heritability of IQ also increases with age, which suggests that it's an asymptotical kind of deal.

>> No.9455201

I wonder how well you'd have to raise your children so they could be as smart as Newton.
