That is a cool look to how things were in a different place back during that time. It is like looking at an alternate universe where Sega had success. I never saw that show, but in those early 2000s, I was stealing bootleg Canadian Satellite TV and watched Reviews on the Run and X-play for videogame content. I guess I vibe with Newton-Dunn based on that episode you linked, will check out more every now and then.

I mostly kept what I had back then, aside from the first two years of Nintendo Power that I regrettably threw out due to moving. I did get these old magazines later, well past their time, for research into impressions of a game across the pond for a video and it is interesting peering into an alternate dimension where Sega was actually liked. The rising cost of housing in this recession era is making it very difficult to have space for any of these expendable luxuries.

No, I just kept most of the ones I did have from back then. The only newly acquired ones are just part of the research for my Keio Yuugekitai video explaining how the UK demo had the full game. It was interesting to see an alternate dimension where Sega was successful. As for Hyper, I have no idea about it, may be worth looking into for an Aussie point of view for me which I did not cover.

The UK is like an alternate dimension to me. It does seem like a place that accepted arcade-styled gameplay. That would explain how Core worked magic on the Sega MegaCD in making SoulStar and Lombotomy made some nice FPS ports to the Saturn. I remember enjoying the humor of UK:Resistance website, as all their previews of DOA2 on the Dreamcast was life bars drawn over lesbian porn. It is strange but the timeline corrected itself and gaming is all Xbox there now.

They are a nostalgic trip back to a different time. I regret throwing away all the first two years of Nintendo Power and pre-subscription Sega Visions issues I had, but I did keep most of the EGMs and Gamefan issues. Recently decided to try these out, and it is like looking into another dimension where Sega was successful, mysteriously interesting.

I guess when I have time, I'll download an read that. It is interesting how things could have been if Sega thrived, which is why the UK is such an interesting Petri dish unlike anywhere else in the world.
