how old were you when you realized final fantasy 9 is the best the series will ever have gotten ?

why do you guys like this game so much? I grew up in ps1 era and 7 and 8 were great! loved em as a kid and still pretty fun replays even now.

to me ff9 is a sad sack of boring characters getting chased around. zidane is little monkey cuck. vivi and steiner are little bitches. quina is just a fat frog eating fuck. garnet is decent and the bad guys are cool. but when does it get good? what are the good parts? disc 1 has been a BUST

This game was acualy pretty mediocre.
I mean i dont doubt it was amazing for its time.
But man is it badly made as an actual game. Its only good as a slitly less trope fantasy story.
Tons of abilities are completely useless meaning combat boils down to spam damage heal damage.
Played the game for the first time again in nearly 15 years and only time i ever died was when he final boss uses his kill all RNG spell and i got the short end of the RNG stick. And then i preceded to destroy him on the net try because i won the RNG. Even the secret bosses are easy or the ultra boss if you just do a dumb side-quest.
I know JPRGs are not usually hard in general but this game was just extra easy.
