Would this have sucked sweaty balls if it actually came out or would it have saved the Saturn?

This is probably the better place to post it seeing as /v/ is shit for actual discussion. Has there ever been a game that did what Sonic Xtreme tried to do? I know Sonic Adventure practically outdates it but theres something interesting about the cylindrical approach to 3D they gave it with winding/looping platforms and the weird I want to say 2.8D graphical style where rather than swapping between 3D and 2D you're more interfacing in a cool inbetween way. So not entirely 2.5D if that makes any sense. Anyway has there been a game that explored this niche?

Would Sonic Xtreme have been any good if it had been released?
The few gameplay videos released (like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq_iPxQsbm0)) look rather dull in terms of gameplay to me, a step down from the 2D entries.

This game was actually designed to meet the demand of a 3d Sonic game after Mario 64 except the Saturn didn’t handle polygons very well. The actual 3D game, Sonic x-treme, was never released but even then it was basically just Bug and nowhere near Mario 64 in terms of 3D gameplay

Could it have saved the abortion that was the Sega Shiturn?

>it's 1997
>Sonic X-treme finally came out
>it's a great game
>soon bundled with the Saturn
But one game can change history? The Saturn will be remembered to be a more succesful console?
