FFVII is fun because it has the fun storytelling of a 90s anime, it can switch between goofy and edgelord from scene to scene and work perfectly. It has the look, too, with bold, eye popping colors and iconic, unforgettable locations This just looks like every other washed out modern Square Enix Final Fantasy product. Drab and dull, with that nasty cgi (don't want to call it "realistic, because it isn't) art style they use now.

In any event, action RPGs are boring, so that's a killer. Not interested in the least bit, won't be trying it.

How about give us good NEW ideas and ips, like Bravely Default, instead of lame remakes that only remind us how much better the original was.

Everything comes together in FF7. 10/10 music, 10/10 art design. Love the backdrops, they are so colorful and full of flavor. Every one is memorable. I even love the 3d models in the battles. The Playstation can't do good textured 3d anyway, might as well have gouraud-shaded nightmares that look they are out of some modern art sculpture. Like the characters and the story, too. The best part is how no one fully knows what's happening, and Cloud taking the place of someone else messes with all the backstory recollections until it is resolved. The way the actions of the past interact with the current time is really good and results in one of my favorite JRPG narratives.

In my top 5 jrpgs, easily. Only negative point against it is that it is really easy for a jrpg. And jrpgs are easy, so it is REALLY easy. The sort of magic this game evokes you see very rarely, in games like Phantasy Star 4 and Lunar 2.

As a side note, I first played this game on PC, since I didn't have a Playstation. It was so good that I never stopped playing even though the PC version locked up every time an FMV started, and all the minigames ran at 5 fps.
