I've decided I'm kicking off my October Castlevaniathon with Simon's Quest. I've beaten the game before, but apparently the translation was intentionally botched and cryptic? Some of the romhacks look like they change a little too much though, any suggestions?

This is actually the best game in the series. redditors will disagree, but the non-linarity suits the series much better than generic spooky side scrollers or Symphony of the Upvote

What was the general consensus on Simon's Quest before April 8th, 2006? Was it seen as a classic, a good but flawed game, or a straight up bad entry in the series?
