What games do you think are the best suited to introduce new players to retro gaming?

GBC Dragon Quest I-III, but that's probably just because I played DWM2 and they've got the same graphics.

I hear you OP. I think GB/GBC is one of the only systems that gives me nostalgia for a whole graphical style and even sound.

DQ games are the fukken cutest on GBC.

dear /vr/, i feel the urge to play some retro jrpg. i've played my dose of Final Fantasies, Dragon Quests, any other gems? how about romhacks or mods? pick related if they're gbc style even better

Been playing DQ II on my ds through lameboy. At first I played the snes version on my android, but it seems superGnes doesn't support this game, I got a glitch that prevent me to revive Roland/Drew. Then I tried the gbc version. Turns out I prefer this version to the snes one. Chimera wings returns me to previous town instead of the first town and it has some animation that the snes version doesn't have.

Which version of DQIII you played if I may know? I'm thinking to continue to DQIII after I beat this game.
