I ran the audio from Metal Slug X (full volume in the sound menu) trough Audacity over the 3.5 mm jack.
There is some intense clipping going on and the waveform looks a bit like trash.

Looks like the analog audio out is more like a nice "hack" than a serious audio out solution.

I can only recommend using the digital options (toslink/hdmi) for the best audio experience and ask in the forum if there is a way to lower the core volume or report the clipping to the devs.

But the first step would be to search in the forum if someone else mentioned the problem.
