OP here. So am I. I just busted ass for 12 hours and am briefing a government agency on Tuesday in DC. But I like my hobby and I need a release. Anyhoo, didn't have time to monitor the thread much today, but let's see what's up.

I think once the rest of the game is programmed, how exactly the gravity switch mechanic works can be easily experimented with to find something fun.

I read a while ago that NBA Jam was an unusual game because the programmers did it all in ASM, which leads me to believe official developers had access to C compilers furnished by the licensing company (Nintendo, Sega, etc). Anyway I decided to write my own because I couldn't find a decent one years ago.

Unfortunately I think an RPG is out of the scope of this thread at this time. I really want to do an RPG bad because I think it'd be relatively easy, but I need to put together a few more tools (like complete my SPC700 assembler) before I'm ready to tackle that.

I think I started this thread more to show people how game design is done, how to make a game, let people collaborate on things outside their expertise to build interest in hacking, and be a general "what's under the hood thread". The game needs to be simple in order to complete this project. If successful, I'd be delighted to make an RPG with you guys in the future.
