Playing DW4 right now, grinding before the final battle. Might have to say I had more fun with it then tbe DS version. Surprised how competent the cpus are.

As someone who played V snes as their first and IV later on I feel it doesn't. IV is in my opinion the definitive DQ. It gets nearly everything right. I've played through it three times (two on NES and once on DS) and never got to a part where I thought "man is this a slog". V is amazing too though, don't think you're getting a shitty game. Personally I find the last third of V a bit weak but it's seriously one of the best in the series.

I remember psaro being the only boss to ever give me any trouble, he killed me about 3-4 times. Other then him I've never really had trouble with any specific bosses.
