The Kirby series peaked too early with Adventure on the NES.
After that I couldn't get any other game in the series other than Amazing Mirror and maybe Kirby 64.

NES has a shitty color palette which makes it unable to do these bright, colorful games that Nintendo likes so much, ironically. I don't know how it happened, the SMS has a much better palette. Just look at Kirby. It looks best in the dark places.
Most people will naturally gravitate towards the darker games like the Batmans, Kick Master, Shatter Hand, Sword Master and Ninja Gaiden. Those games could really take advantage of the color palette.
For me, best is Street Fighter 2010. It's downright beautiful, maybe my favorite loking 2D game ever.
