Arcade division: AM2 no contest, although AM1/WOW is underrated.

Consumer division: Team Shinobi, who I believe became Overworks. They made better platformers than Sanic Team imo.

Old-school sports games could be great, especially some of the NES ones.
>>5358728
>spend more time listening to old video game music and reading and watching videos about them than actually playing them
>have flash carts for NES, Genesis, and SNES (the three main consoles I care about, and in that order) but don't play them all that often
I'm keeping an eye on MiSTer nonetheless.
>playing with a composite connection and on a small consumer-grade CRT is good enough for me
>I don't care that much about series like Mega Man and Zelda apart for nostalgia and the music
>never cared for the RPG experience
>Super Mario Bros. 3 has never appealed that much to me
>prefer the raw gameplay of Wolfenstein 3D to Doom, even if the level design is tedious and I don't feel like I could go back to playing without ECWolf's map feature; Doom is still a classic, though
>rarely finish games I start
When I play a game nowadays, it's usually something that is made to just pick up and play for a little while as a break. Sometimes I'll end up getting sucked into a strategy game for several hours at a time, but that's not an everyday thing.

This one sounds like a SNES or Ameager game, oddly enough:

Of course they were. I'm usually more in the Nintendo camp, but the Genesis is one of the best consoles of all time. I'd probably even take it over the Super Nintendo.

Not very awesome unless you were a Nintendildo, stuff like that was being done in the '80s even.

What's the best way to play and beat Space Harrier, and for that matter, how is the best way to play it?

For me, Outrun was fairly simple. I just used Cannonball, and it's pretty much a 1CC and get all 5 endings, but now that I want to finish Space Harrier, I'm not sure what the best way to play would be.

I've been using MAME, and trying to beat it with 3 lives are usually what you get for 1 credit I think, but this game seems like it wanted to take as much money from you as possible, and I usually die by the third round before the bonus stage and I don't really want to just put as many lives as I want into the game. What would be a fair amount?

Also, is there anyway of making MAME less blurry. The version on Shenmue is much crisper.

On topic though, I love Outrun to bits and still play it on Cannonball occasionally. I also own the 3DS and Mega Drive versions. I should try and find a SMS version as well.
